The safe landing gear on the quad ensures a lesser impact on its frame when landing, and the strong blade protector provides efficient protection during crashes. It also has a high impact resistant, extra-tough shell. The drone’s body can handle all sorts of rugged use. The drone also has LED light on the body that makes night flying much more comfortable. This cool feature allows the drone to submerge underwater to capture videos and photos. Its vents on the body can drain water from the quad quickly. This drone is not only waterproof but can capture photos and videos under the water! Equipped with a waterproof frame, motor, panel, and camera, the drone features an excellent drainage system. The GPTOYS F51C, an excellent choice for waterproof drones, is impervious to the extent that you can simply drop it right into the water and fly back out. If you’re more interested in robotic flying, you can use the Spry app to set up waypoints on the map and fly completely hands-free through a designated path. You can use the remote control to turn the GPS on and off, fly freestyle or activate its advanced flight features like object orbit, Follow Me, and return to remote-control location. The 4k camera tilts up and down to always point in the right direction during flight or while floating. You can also share your flying experience with your friends live. The Spray can also send its video signal to several monitors simultaneously. The built-in monitor in the remote control allows you to watch the live video stream and on-screen display information. A mixture of a racing quad and a photography drone with first-ever waterproof remote control, the drone can submerge on the water briefly and flip back and fly in the air at over 40 km/h. SwellPro Spry Waterproof DroneĪfter two years of designing and prototyping, Swellpro introduced the Spry, a waterproof drone that floats like a boat. The drone is useful for a wide variety of applications, including 3d mapping, surveying, agriculture, firefighting, wildlife observation, search-and-rescue, and much more. It has a better range to choose from among 40 channels, ensuring smooth and reliable video feed in all situations. You can now, in a few seconds, switch from a search-and-rescue configuration to a 4k aerial shooting platform the splash drone 3 provides you with maximum flexibility in the most compact form factor.Įverything you need to fly and capture your footage is remote-controlled with an integrated FPV monitor. Switching between modules is fast and easy with fast-release system. The drone mainly has several fight modes, including a smart cruise mode, which allows smoother footage to be captured and standard intelligent flight modes such as “follow me” and mission planning. The company has built a brain in the splash drone 3, the S3 flight controller in GPS mode, to improve position control precision, and thanks to its propulsion system, the splash drone 3 can retain its location even in high winds up to 12 meters per second. With the 4k waterproof camera gimbal module, you get more vivid sharper and higher resolution footage than ever. This also takes breathtaking images of 14 megapixels, either in JPEG or RAW format. The camera captures video and mp4 or MOV format up to 4k 24 FPS, or 2k 30fps, and 1080p 60fps. The 4k waterproof camera gimbal is the first of its kind with a wide-angle lens. The heavy-duty Splash 3 has a waterproof fuselage, engineered especially for use on water and all-weather flight, and is as durable as waterproof. The propulsion system is not just about raw power, but it’s also about stability, eliminating the jelly effect caused by the aircraft’s vibrations. The custom-designed remote controller has a built-in FPV monitor. In essence, the S3 flight controller guarantees rock-solid stability in all situations. The improved propulsion system with its kilovolt motors and carbon-fiber propellers provides more power in reserve and agility than ever. The brand-new aluminum alloy 4k camera with a two-axis waterproof gimbal module is lighter, more durable, and offers excellent stability than ever. The splash drone 3 is the first fully integrated modular waterproof drone. Swell Pro, the pioneers of waterproof drones, has been leading innovations since 2013. The remaining question is: Does this operation block others from reading the table while it is being executed? Lets generate some more date to make the select operation a bit longer and then “watch” the statement in a separate session while we execute the conversion: Time: 0.453 ms Time: 20.972 > explain analyze select a from t1 where a = to_date('01012017','dd.mm.yyyy') Time: 3.344 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 1.432 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 1.455 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 1.072 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 1.110 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 39.653 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Time: 2.373 > insert into t1 select * from t1 Looks fine as well, lets do a quick test if the index is really usable: Time: 0.453 > insert into t1 select * from t1 "i1" btree > select indisvalid, indisready, indislive from pg_index where indexrelid = 'i1'::regclass "i1" btree > alter table t1 alter column a type date using to_date(a,'DDMMYYYY') When there is an index on the column, what happens to the index? > d t1 That’s really cool: You can pass a function (this mean a self written function as well) to the alter command to specify on how you want to do the conversion. What will really help here is the “using” keyword because you can do things like this: > alter table t1 alter column a type date using to_date(a,'DDMMYYYY') When you look at the “alter table” command in PostgtreSQL you’ll notice something like this: where action is one of:ĪDD column_name data_type ]ĭROP column_name ĪLTER column_name TYPE data_type We now have a varchar column holding the date values as a string. Insert into t1 (a) values > select * from t1 To start with lets generate some test data: drop table if exists t1 This for sure will work but it is not the most convenient way: What happens if the application is somehow dependent on the order of the columns? Shouldn’t be the case if the application is written well, but you never know. How can we do that in PostgreSQL? The first answer that came to me mind is: Add a new column (of data type date) and populate it with the converted string from the source column, drop the source column and rename the new column to the name of the dropped column. When we want to convert this column to be a real date data type in Oracle we can use dbms_redefinition. :: represents CAST operator in PostgreSQL.Last week at a customer the following question came up: We have a varchar2 column in Oracle that contains a date but actually is stored as a string. It is asking us to cast the roll_no values into integer type explicitly. PostgreSQL is even providing us with a hint. Specifically, the error will read − ERROR: column "roll_no" cannot be cast automatically to type integer HINT: You might need to specify "USING roll_no::integer". This is because the conversion of text to integer is not that straightforward for PostgreSQL. Now, let us try to convert the roll_no column back to an integer ALTER TABLE marks It simply replaces the digit with the character representing that digit. Because integer to text conversion does not confuse PostgreSQL. Now, for understanding the cases where we need to use an expression, let us first convert the roll_no column to VARCHAR type. We need not use any expression for converting the column type. Now, suppose we want to convert the serial_no column from type INTEGER to BIGINTEGER. Now, let us populate it INSERT INTO marks(serial_no,name, roll_no, marks_obtained, Let us create a new table marks − CREATE TABLE marks( Let us understand both the cases using an example. However, if you convert a TEXT or a VARCHAR entry to INTEGER, you will not be able to do that by default, unless you provide an expression for converting the existing TEXT/VARCHAR values to an integer. For instance, if you convert a column of type INTEGER to type BIGINTEGER, you need not use any expression for the conversion of existing entries to the new types. It is used when you need to use an expression for converting the existing entries in that column from the current type to the new type. The USING part of the syntax is optional. Please note that altering the type of a column is not recommended generally, especially if your table has a lot of entries already. In order to change the type of a column, the syntax is ALTER TABLE table_nameĪLTER COLUMN column_name TYPE new_data_type USING expression The racers among us, bench and otherwise, can likely make a few guesses as to what other critical components, fluids or forces are observed. Going a step further, the team also has several unspecified sensors installed to monitor areas of the vehicle they feel are pertinent. Notably, oil temp, coolant temp, fuel pressure, boost and air fuel. The ‘must monitor’ items for any race car are also carefully observed. The outside of this car is rather striking, but being an authentic and accomplished race vehicle, let’s start under the skin.Īs mentioned, ride height and droop are monitored at all times, as is tire temperature. But what’s life without a little challenge, hey? Continuously evolving their car to compete with modified factory GT3s – and whatever comes next – keeps their skills sharp.įranco Scribante Racing are never able to be particularly smug about their accomplishments, because something new is always chasing them down in the rear-view mirror. Outside of that requirement just about anything goes.ĭerestricted GT3-spec cars have become an obvious choice in the series, but the Franco Scribante team challenged themselves by starting with a road-going 997 911 Turbo S. It seems like ‘limited’ is used in jest, because the only real restriction is that vehicles be based on production GT or high-performance saloons. South Africa is home to a ‘limited’ racing category called the Extreme Class. In South Africa, the Scribante name is synonymous with speed, so when the opportunity arose to shoot this car, Stefan did not hesitate to do so. This is exactly what Franco Scribante Racing has done with their track-devouring, green-skinned monster known as ‘The General’. Sure, there’s always more to be drawn from every automotive platform, yet I am still getting used to transitioning from writing about those that make good cars great, to the people making great cars absolute weapons. That’s why I find the number of heavily modified Porsche 997-based cars I’ve been given the opportunity to write about a little surprising. The list of Porsche owners I can call actual friends is rather small, however, every individual among those few have mentioned the 997 is an incredibly capable platform regardless of spec level. Around the age of 7 or 8, many children began working very early in life. There was meat and dairy products available, but due to a lack of refrigeration and preservation methods, they needed to be consumed as soon as possible. Although some people were able to buy food or trade for food, the majority of their food came from their own land. People had to rely on water from wells, nearby streams, and rivers because they did not have access to running water. Additionally, the medieval era lacked many of the modern conveniences. In feudalism, serfs were expected to work the land and pay taxes as rent in exchange for protection and resources for their lower class. Feudalism and the social structure of nobles and serfs were also prevalent during this time period. Sundays were devoted to religious worship, and church services were a regular part of life. The Catholic faith that was prevalent at the time had a significant impact on day-to-day life. During the medieval period, people lived a life of subsistence and focused on the church and religion. Since people were almost entirely reliant on their own goods and resources, they had to make everything they needed. Most people were peasants, and most of society was rural, with many people living in small towns and villages. The majority of Medieval people worked on the land, mostly in farms and fields, to make ends meet. The medieval people lived very different from the lives we lead today, though in some ways they were similar. Lastly, some people changed their name because they were married to someone with a different name. Other times, a person might inherit or be given a new name and they didn't like it. Sometimes a person might want to take on a new name in order to start fresh or hide their identity. There were a few reasons why people might want to change their name. Names in medieval times were often chosen by parents for their children, as there was no system in place to choose names. For instance, if you are naming a child after Arthurian legend, consider choosing something like Guinevere or Lancelot instead of John Doe or Jane Smith. Choose something that reflects the character of your chosen period. There are many popular medieval names out there, so it may be difficult to come up with a unique one of your own. Make sure the name is not already in use by another person or character. For example, if you are naming a child after the Middle Ages, choose something traditional and historically accurate for that time period. Consider the era in which your name will be used. Some tips on how to create a good medieval name Another way is to use your own creativity and come up with your own name. One way is to use a random name generator like this one. There are several ways to generate a medieval name. The best medieval names were those that had some meaning behind them. In the medieval era, people had to come up with creative names for their children in order to make them stand out. It helped to distinguish one person from another and showed their personality. The European period that lasted from the 5th until the 15th century still fuels a large collection of stories to this very day, and for good reason: there's a lot of highly interesting material to work with! Already back then, names were very important for every person. This was a time of knights and castles, guilds and churches, witchcraft and witch hunts. Taking a trip through history, the Medieval Age will definitely catch your attention. Ī patina layer takes many years to develop under natural weathering. In industrial and urban air environments containing sulfurous acid rain from coal-fired power plants or industrial processes, the final patina is primarily composed of sulphide or sulphate compounds. In clean air rural environments, the patina is created by the slow chemical reaction of copper with carbon dioxide and water, producing a basic copper carbonate. The green patina that forms naturally on copper and bronze, sometimes called verdigris, usually consists of varying mixtures of copper chlorides, sulfides, sulfates and carbonates, depending upon environmental conditions such as sulfur-containing acid rain. See also: Copper in architecture § Natural patinas The Statue of Liberty gets its famous green color from the natural patina formed on its copper surface. The chemical process by which a patina forms or is deliberately induced is called patination, and a work of art coated by a patina is said to be patinated.Ĭopper weather vane with verdigris patina Acquired patina Figuratively, patina can refer to any fading, darkening, or other signs of age, which are felt to be natural or unavoidable (or both). The word patina comes from the Italian patina (shallow layer of deposit on a surface), derived from the Latin patĭna (pan, shallow dish). It also refers to development as the result of weathering of a case-hardened layer, called cortex by geologists, within the surface of either a flint or chert nodule. In geology and geomorphology, the term patina is used to refer to discolored film or thin outer layer produced either on or within the surface of a rock or other material by either the development of a weathering rind within the surface of a rock, the formation of desert varnish on the surface of a rock, or combination of both. This has led stone tool analysts in recent times to generally prefer the term cortification as a better term to describe the process than patination. Īrchaeologists also use the term patina to refer to a corticated layer that develops over time that is due to a range of complex factors on flint tools and ancient stone monuments. Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and color that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time. In common parlance, weathering rust on steel is often mistakenly referred to as patina. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides, carbonates, sulfides, or sulfates formed on the surface during exposure to atmospheric elements ( oxygen, rain, acid rain, carbon dioxide, sulfur-bearing compounds). They may also be aesthetically appealing. Patinas can provide a protective covering to materials that would otherwise be damaged by corrosion or weathering. The patinas on leather goods are unique to the type of leather, frequency of use, and exposure. Patina ( / p ə ˈ t iː n ə/ or / ˈ p æ t ɪ n ə/) is a thin layer that variously forms on the surface of copper, brass, bronze and similar metals and metal alloys ( tarnish produced by oxidation or other chemical processes) or certain stones and wooden furniture (sheen produced by age, wear, and polishing), or any similar acquired change of a surface through age and exposure.Īdditionally, the term is used to describe the aging of high-quality leather. The external layer has been weathered by moisture and rain, leading to the oxidation of copper.
